Wolk has been creating photography and painting since his 20s, but he only began publishing works in his mid-40s. The artist battled his bipolar disorder for years, relying on his creativity to help him get through the darkest points in his life. Despite a late start, Wolk was able to produce an impressive outcome. His work immediately gained attention and led to several major awards nominations

He grew up in polar Achangel and has spent considerable amount of time in Petersburg, the center of Russian art. He considers himself a citizen of the world, living in various places and cultures. Currently, he resides in Finland
